Sown area of potatoes smaller than ever before

According to preliminary data of Statistics Estonia and the Agricultural Registers and Information Board (ARIB), the utilised agricultural area this year is 983,400 hectares, which is 4,400 hectares less than in 2023. There has been a slight decrease in arable land, as well as in the area of fruit and berry plantations. The sown area of potatoes, which has been in decline for a long time, continues the trend and is 8% smaller in 2024 than the year before.

The total number of real estate transactions increased last year

According to Statistics Estonia, in 2012, 36,176 purchase-sale transactions of real estate in the total value of 1.7 billion euros were notarised. In 2012, the number of transactions increased by 12% compared to 2011 and the total value of transactions increased by 13%.

Economic growth continued in the 4th quarter

According to the flash estimates of Statistics Estonia, the gross domestic product (GDP) of Estonia increased by 3.7% in the 4th quarter of 2012 compared to the same quarter of the previous year. The annual GDP growth in 2012 was 3.2% compared to the previous year.

Last year exports of goods grew moderately

According to Statistics Estonia, in 2012 exports of goods increased by 4% and imports by 9% compared to 2011. In 2012, the annual growth of exports and imports was slower than in the previous year when both exports and imports grew by 37%.

Milk production increased for the third year in succession

According to preliminary data of Statistics Estonia, the production of milk amounted to 721,400 tons in 2012, which is 4% more than a year earlier. The number of dairy cows did not change compared to the previous year, but milk production per cow kept increasing.
