According to the preliminary estimate of Statistics Estonia, in June 2025, the harmonised index of consumer prices (HICP), which includes the expenditures of tourists in Estonia, increased by 1.1% compared with May. Compared with June last year, the HICP rose by 5.2%.

The consumer price index uses weights reflecting the average expenditure structure of Estonian residents, while the harmonised index of consumer prices also takes into account tourists and is comparable to the international HICP.

“Based on the preliminary estimate, the HICP was affected by the rising prices of food products and also by the higher prices of holiday trips and accommodation, although the latter is likely to be a temporary trend. Lower housing costs and decreased prices of clothing and footwear had the opposite effect on the index,” said Lauri Veski, team lead of consumer price statistics at Statistics Estonia.

The consumer price index data for June will be published by Statistics Estonia on 7 July. Data on the harmonised index of consumer prices will be published on 16 July.
