Music
One of the most important symbols of music culture in Estonia is the song festival tradition, which began in 1869 and remains a powerful expression of national unity to this day. Concerts and festivals with international performers are also popular. Estonia's diverse and high-quality music, renowned composers, conductors, performers, and music event organisers have gained recognition around the world. According to the Participation in Culture Survey, one in two persons in Estonia goes to a live music event each year.
The Participation in Culture Survey tells us
- how often Estonian people attend concerts;
- how many residents of Estonia are active in music;
- which music genres are most popular among concertgoers.
The data from Piletilevi and Piletimaailm tell us
- how many concert organisers we have;
- how many concerts are organised in a year;
- how many concertgoers there are in Estonia.
Since 2019, we have been using data from Piletilevi and Piletimaailm, which give an idea of the scope of the music sector but do not provide a complete picture of what is happening in the Estonian music scene. It should be noted that there are several other ticket sales platforms operating in Estonia that are not reflected in the data published by Statistics Estonia.
