The happiest people in the Baltics live in Estonia

The results of the Estonian Social Survey show that Estonian people are happier than Latvians and Lithuanians but not nearly as happy as the residents of Finland and Sweden. The number of job vacancies rose to over 13,000

According to Statistics Estonia, in the first quarter of 2022, there were 13,076 job vacancies in the enterprises, institutions and organisations of Estonia. This is 38% more than in the same quarter of 2021. More than 4,000 persons left their jobs on the employer’s initiative.

Growth of industrial production slowed down in April

According to Statistics Estonia, in April 2022, the total production of industrial enterprises increased by 3.8% at constant prices compared to April 2021. Output increased in two of the three industrial sectors: by 3.7% in manufacturing and by 9.6% in electricity production. In mining, output fell by 13.0%.

Population census: Estonia's population and the number of Estonians have grown

Data collected from registers in the 2021 census reveal that in ten years, Estonia’s population has grown, people live longer, and the number of working-age persons has fallen. Over the last decade, Estonia has seen a rise in the number of ethnic nationalities, countries of citizenship, mother tongues, and countries of birth, as well as an increase in the number of Estonians.

First census results out today

Today, on June 1, Statistics Estonia will publish the first results of the population census. We will reveal the size of population of Estonia, sex and age distribution of the population, location of inhabitants, representation of various ethnic nationalities, mother tongues, and countries of citizenship in the Estonian society, and the changes that have occurred over the decades. On the occasion of the International Day for Protection of Children, we will also highlight census data on children.
