According to the preliminary estimate of Statistics Estonia, in September 2025, the harmonised index of consumer prices (HICP), which includes the expenditures of tourists, decreased by 1.2% compared with August. Compared with September last year, the HICP rose by 5.2%. The HICP is a flash estimate, which will be revised based on the September price data.

Construction prices rose by 1.5% last year

According to Statistics Estonia, the construction price index, which expresses the change in construction expenditures, increased by 1.5% in 2025 compared with the average of 2024. The rising cost of materials was the main reason for the increase in the construction price index.

There were 7% more foreign tourists accommodated in November

According to Statistics Estonia, accommodation establishments served 254,989 tourists in November 2025, which is 3% more than in the same month a year earlier. There were 7% more foreign tourists, but the number of domestic tourists did not increase.

The volume of retail trade turnover in November was unchanged year on year

According to Statistics Estonia, in November 2025, the turnover of retail trade enterprises was 907 million euros. Compared with November 2024, the volume of retail trade turnover remained at the same level.

Revised data: average wages and salaries were €2126 in the second quarter

The profit of the business sector decreased in the 2nd quarter

According to Statistics Estonia, in the 2nd quarter of 2015, the total profit of the business sector was 724 million euros, which was 15% less than in the same period a year ago.

In the 2nd quarter, the average monthly gross wages and salaries rose almost six per cent year over year

According to Statistics Estonia, in the 2nd quarter of 2015, the average monthly gross wages and salaries were 1,082 euros. Compared to the 1st quarter, the average monthly gross wages and salaries increased by 7.1%, and compared to the 2nd quarter of 2014, the average monthly gross wages and salaries increased by 5.8%.

In July the growth in retail sales continued

According to Statistics Estonia, in July 2015 compared to July of the previous year, the retail sales of goods of retail trade enterprises increased 9% at constant prices.

In July, the volume of industrial production decreased

According to Statistics Estonia, in July 2015, the production of industrial enterprises decreased 6% compared to July of the previous year. Production decreased in manufacturing, energy production and mining.

Construction volumes decreased in the 2nd quarter

According to Statistics Estonia, in the 2nd quarter of 2015 compared to the same quarter of the previous year, the total production of Estonian construction enterprises in Estonia and foreign countries decreased 6%. The construction volumes have decreased for two years in a row.

In July, the producer price index of industrial output decreased

According to Statistics Estonia, in July 2015, the producer price index of industrial output changed by -0.8% compared to June 2015 and by -3.1% compared to July 2014.

Long-term unemployment has significantly decreased

According to Statistics Estonia, the unemployment rate was 6.5% and the employment rate was 65.1% in the 2nd quarter of 2015. Compared to the second quarters of the previous years, the number of long-term unemployed persons fell under 20,000 for the first time after the recession.

The economy grew 1.9% in the 2nd quarter

According to the flash estimates of Statistics Estonia, the gross domestic product (GDP) of Estonia increased 1.9% in the 2nd quarter of 2015 compared to the same quarter of the previous year.

In June, the number of tourists in accommodation establishments decreased

According to Statistics Estonia, 323,500 tourists used the services of accommodation establishments in June 2015, which is 4% fewer than in June 2014. The number of foreign tourists decreased and the number of domestic tourists increased.

In June foreign trade increased

According to Statistics Estonia, in June 2015, exports of goods increased by 3% and imports by 1% compared to June of the previous year. In the first half-year of this year, exports decreased by 1% and imports by 4% compared to the same period of the previous year.

In July, the annual change of the consumer price index was influenced the most by energy products

According to Statistics Estonia, the change of the consumer price index in July 2015 was -0.4% compared to June 2015 and -0.3% compared to July of the previous year.

Director General of Eurostat is visiting Estonia

On Wednesday, 5th of August, Walter Radermacher, Director General of Eurostat, the statistical office of the European Union, will be on a one-day visit to Estonia. He will meet with the Director General of Statistics Estonia, the Estonian Minister of Finance and the Members of the Statistical Council, and will deliver a public lecture.
