Statistics Estonia has revised the entire time series of gross domestic product (GDP) starting from 1995. During the revision, updated basic data sources were incorporated and methodological improvements were made.

According to Statistics Estonia, by flash estimates, the gross domestic product (GDP) of Estonia increased by 4% in the 4th quarter of 2011 compared to the same quarter of the previous year. In 2011, the annual GDP grew by 7.5% compared to the previous year.

Helle Bunder, leading analyst at Statistics Estonia, said that the volume of manufacturing production showed a modest increase in each month of the first quarter. “Manufacturing, which had been in a slump since summer 2022, started to show the first signs of recovery in October and November last year. This year, for the first time, Statistics Estonia distributed the deadlines of the EKOMAR questionnaire over a longer period and, depending on the economic activity of the enterprise, the deadline fell in the period of 1–8 July. Out of the 8,000 enterprises that were to submit the questionnaire, 44% submitted EKOMAR in time.

According to Statistics Estonia, there were nearly 12,000 job vacancies in the enterprises, institutions and organisations of Estonia in the 2nd quarter of 2017. This is the highest number of job vacancies in the past nine years.

According to Statistics Estonia, in the second quarter of 2020, there were 8,088 vacancies in the enterprises, institutions and organisations of Estonia. Compared to the second quarter of 2019, the number decreased by 28%. In the second quarter, 39,540 persons were hired and 50,184 persons left work. Every fourth person left on the employer’s initiative.

Statistics Estonia concluded agreements with Telia, Tele2 and Elisa to restart mobility analysis. The goal of the planned mobility analysis is to help the government evaluate the impact of the adopted COVID-19 countermeasures on the movement of people, assess change in the risk of infection and effectively plan communication in Estonian regions. Mobility will be analysed using the same methodology as in last spring.

Helle Bunder, leading analyst at Statistics Estonia, said that, in February, there was an increase in total industrial production as well as in the volume of manufacturing production. “The rise in manufacturing production was mainly due to the 7.3% increase in the manufacture of food products, where output was boosted significantly by the manufacture of milk and manufacture of other food products, including sugar, sugar confectionery, prepared meals, tea and coffee, and spices,” explained Bunder. According to Statistics Estonia, the gross domestic product (GDP) of Estonia grew 4.3% in 2019. In the 4th quarter of 2019, the GDP grew 3.9% compared to the same period of the previous year. The Estonian GDP was 28 billion euros at current prices.
