Estonia produces 71% of the meat consumed here
According to Statistics Estonia, 76,500 tonnes of meat were produced in Estonia in 2024, which is 1% more than the year before. The average annual meat production was 56 kg per person. Including imported meat, a total of 78 kg of meat per person were consumed during the year. 71% of the meat consumed in Estonia in 2024 was locally produced.
HICP flash estimate: prices down by 0.3% in March
According to the preliminary estimate of Statistics Estonia, in March 2025, the harmonised index of consumer prices (HICP) decreased by 0.3% compared with February and increased by 4.3% compared with March last year.

In the first quarter, the number of job vacancies decreased by 4.9% year on year
According to Statistics Estonia, in the first quarter of 2025, there were 9,130 job vacancies in the enterprises, institutions, and organisations of Estonia. This is 4.9% less than in the same quarter last year. In the first quarter, 5,633 persons left their job at the initiative of the employer.
In May, the consumer price index rose by 0.1% compared with April
According to Statistics Estonia, in May, the consumer price index increased by 0.1% compared with April and by 4.5% compared with May 2024. Goods were 1.9% and services 8.8% more expensive than in May last year.
Industrial production grew by 4% in April
According to Statistics Estonia, in April 2025, the total production of industrial enterprises increased by 4% at constant prices compared with April 2024. Among the three main sectors, output increased by 4.4% in manufacturing and by 0.6% in energy production but decreased by 2.1% in mining.
Trade in services with non-EU countries increased the most in the first quarter
According to Statistics Estonia and Eesti Pank, in the first quarter of 2025, Estonia’s exports of services grew by 5% and imports by 11%. Exports of services amounted to over €3 billion and imports to nearly €2.5 billion at current prices. The balance of foreign trade in services was in surplus by €548 million, which is €98 million less than in the first quarter of 2024.

According to Statistics Estonia, in the first quarter of 2025, the gross domestic product (GDP) decreased by 0.3% compared with the same period of 2024. The GDP at current prices amounted to 9.3 billion euros in the first quarter.
The rise in retail trade volume accelerated in April

Average wages and salaries were 2,011 euros in the first quarter

Life expectancy in Estonia is 79.5 years
According to Statistics Estonia, in 2024, life expectancy at birth was 79.5 years in Estonia. Among European countries, Estonia has had the biggest increase in life expectancy in the last three decades. The number of healthy life years at birth is 58.7 in Estonia.
Construction volume up by 5% in the first quarter
According to Statistics Estonia, in the first quarter of 2025, the total production value of Estonian construction enterprises in Estonia and abroad increased by 5% compared with the first quarter of 2024. Considering only the domestic market, the rise in construction volume was 3%.
A record quantity of fish roe was sold last year
According to Statistics Estonia, in 2024, fish and crayfish farms sold 963 tonnes of commercial fish and crayfish, for a total of 7.8 million euros. Compared with 2023, the sold quantity of fish farming production grew by 5%. The quantity of fish roe sold was a little over 21 tonnes, which is the highest amount ever.
Producer price index of industrial output rose by 1.4% in April year on year
The producer price index of industrial output, which expresses changes in the producer prices of industrial goods manufactured in Estonia for the domestic market and for export, decreased by 1.0% in April 2025 compared with March and increased by 1.4% compared with April last year.
Foreign tourists’ visits to Estonian museums up by nearly a fifth
According to Statistics Estonia, museums in Estonia were visited more than 2.6 million times last year. The number of visits increased by 6.5% compared with 2023. Year on year, the number of visits by foreign tourists was up by 18.2%.
