According to the preliminary estimate of Statistics Estonia, in September, the harmonised index of consumer prices (HICP), which includes the expenditures of tourists, increased by 0.5% compared with August and by 3% compared with September 2025. This is a flash estimate which will be refined once more detailed data on September prices are received.

The consumer price index uses weights reflecting the average expenditure structure of Estonian residents, while the harmonised index of consumer prices also takes into account the expenditures of tourists and is comparable to the international HICP.

“Compared with September 2025, the index was primarily influenced by the continuing rise in petrol and diesel prices, which is due to the ongoing armed conflict in the Middle East,” said Lauri Veski, the Consumer Price Statistics Service Manager at Statistics Estonia.

The consumer price index data for September will be published by Statistics Estonia on Wednesday, 7 October. The HICP data for September will be published on 15 October.
