In the first quarter, part-time employment increased

Immigration helped to increase the population figure

According to the revised data of Statistics Estonia, 1,328,976 persons lived in Estonia on 1 January 2020, which is 4,156 persons more than at the same time a year earlier. In 2019, the population figure decreased by 1,302 persons due to negative natural change, but increased by 5,458 persons as a result of positive net migration.

According to Statistics Estonia, in March 2020, compared to March 2019, the exports of goods decreased by 1% and imports by 2%. Compared to the first quarter of 2019, exports declined by 3% and imports by 4%. Statistics Estonia publishes weekly statistics on deaths

Statistics Estonia will start to publish each week the number of deaths of Estonian inhabitants in the previous week and the breakdown by sex and age group. The data are updated on Tuesdays for as long as it is necessary to assess the impact of the emergency situation.
