Statistics Estonia gave an overview of the preparations for the next population census

The next population and housing census in Estonia will, for the first time in Estonian history, take place on the basis of registers, i.e. no information is asked from people directly, the results are put together based on the data stored in state databases. This is what gave the census the name Register-Based Population and Housing Census (with the abbreviation REGREL in Estonian).

Today, on 20 February, enumerators start visiting those people who did not complete the census online. Households that did not participate in the e-census can expect an enumerator’s visit between now and the end of March.

According to Statistics Estonia, in January 2022, Estonia’s exports of goods increased by 35% and imports by 36% compared to January 2021. Trade growth was significantly boosted by the increased exports and imports and higher prices of mineral fuels and electricity.
Social protection expenditure on the rise

In 2017, the social protection field was mostly characterised by growth trends: the average old-age pension exceeded 400 euros, labour market measures are being used more and there is a greater variety of them, the expenditure on family allowances increased and new allowances for large families were added. The number of old-age pensioners and subsistence benefit recipients has declined.

Producer price indices increased in November

According to Statistics Estonia, in November 2011, the change in producer price index of industrial output was 0.1% compared to October and 3.0% compared to November of the previous year.
