          According to Statistics Estonia, in 2023, life expectancy at birth was 79 years in Estonia. This is the highest result ever and puts Estonia ahead of the other Baltic countries. At the same time, there was a slight decrease in healthy life years.

          According to Statistics Estonia, the gross domestic product (GDP) of Estonia grew 4.2% in the 3rd quarter of 2019 compared to the same period of the previous year. The Estonian GDP was 7 billion euros at current prices.

          During the population and housing census, information on the highest level of education attained by inhabitants of Estonia was also gathered and data were compared with that of other countries. Estonia has seen an increase in the proportion of people with higher education, while the share of persons with basic education has decreased. Estonian women are still among the most highly educated in Europe, and overall Estonia ranks 7th in terms of the share of people with higher education.

          According to Statistics Estonia, 79% of the meat consumed in Estonia in 2020 was locally produced. This is the highest percentage in the last five years. In the case of beef, the situation is favourable, but not so in the case of poultry meat.

          Statistics Estonia highly values the contribution Estonian people and enterprises make to the production of official statistics. This will enable the creation of essential knowledge about indicators that are important for the country, ranging from GDP to the at-risk-of-poverty rate. We therefore hope that the new self-service environment will make data submission faster and more convenient. The self-service environment offers users of Statistics Estonia's e-services a number of new options that were not available in eSTAT. More user-friendly features will be added over time.
