According to Statistics Estonia's preliminary estimate, the decline in the gross domestic product (GDP) slowed down in the second quarter of 2024. GDP fell by approximately 1.7% compared with the second quarter of 2023.

Johanna Linda Pihlak, analyst at Statistics Estonia, pointed out that the decline in the volume of retail trade turnover in November was most affected by grocery stores, as their turnover volume decreased by 4% year on year. “The turnover volume of stores selling manufactured goods, however, continued to grow in November, increasing by 2% compared with the same period last year,” Pihlak noted. According to Statistics Estonia, in the second quarter of 2022, the Dwelling Price Index increased by 8% compared with the first quarter of 2022 and by 27.4% compared with the second quarter of 2021.

Statistics Estonia has revised the entire time series of gross domestic product (GDP) starting from 1995. During the revision, updated basic data sources were incorporated and methodological improvements were made.
