According to Statistics Estonia, the change of the consumer price index in May 2020 was -0.7% compared to April 2020 and -1.7% compared to May 2019. Compared to May of the previous year, goods were 1.5% and services 2.0% cheaper.

Helle Bunder, leading analyst at Statistics Estonia, pointed out that, as in the first half of the year, when the volume of manufacturing declined by 6%, the fall continued at the same rate in August. “Also, as in the previous months, the volume of industrial production was down in two thirds of the manufacturing activities,” Bunder added. According to Statistics Estonia, in June, the consumer price index increased by 2.7% compared to May, and by 21.9% compared to June 2021. Goods were 17.9% and services 29.7% more expensive than in June last year.

Estonia's air is among the cleanest in the world. However, we also have air pollution. Polluted air is a considerable environmental threat to human health. Most harmful are tiny particles from vehicle emissions, combustion processes and chemical reactions in the atmosphere. Statistics provide an overview of air emissions in Estonia and their origin, for example emissions of chemical and organic compounds and fine particles; emissions of gases caused by acid rain. The data on air pollutant emissions are used when drawing up development and action plans and for monitoring air quality.

From today until 22 January 2022, the e-questionnaire for the Population and Housing Census is open. Everyone living in Estonia is welcome to respond to the e-census. Only people who are included in the survey sample may expect a phone call or visit from a census taker if they have not filled in the e-questionnaire.
