According to Statistics Estonia, nearly 225,000 tourists stayed in accommodation establishments in February 2024, which is 1% more than in February last year. The number of domestic tourists decreased a little, while the number of foreign tourists increased.

Helle Bunder, leading analyst at Statistics Estonia, noted that, in October, the volume of production in manufacturing increased slightly after a long period of decline. “Manufacturing output had fallen for nearly 2.5 years but now grew by 0.8% compared with October 2023,” explained Bunder. Johanna Linda Pihlak, analyst at Statistics Estonia, pointed out that the decline in the volume of retail trade turnover in November was most affected by grocery stores, as their turnover volume decreased by 4% year on year. “The turnover volume of stores selling manufactured goods, however, continued to grow in November, increasing by 2% compared with the same period last year,” Pihlak noted. The Estonian e-census starts tomorrow, December 28. All Estonian residents can participate in the census. To make sure that answering the census survey is as safe as possible, Liina Osila, project manager of the Population and Housing Census, goes over safety principles and shares useful tips.

The Population and Housing Census, which started at the end of last year, continues on a smaller scale in February. Throughout the month, enumerators are contacting the people who did not respond to the e-census but live at mandatory sample addresses.
