According to Statistics Estonia, there were 6,400 job vacancies in the enterprises, institutions and organisations of Estonia in the 4th quarter of 2013. Their number decreased by 3.4% compared to the same period of 2012, and by a fourth compared to the previous quarter.
Number of e-commerce users increased again, enterprises start to use artificial intelligence

According to Statistics Estonia, in 2021, the biggest increase compared to the previous year occurred in people’s use of the internet for participating in online courses. The popularity of e-commerce also grew, with 62% of the population aged 16–74 having made online purchases. Among enterprises, the use of enterprise resource planning and customer relationship management software continues to increase. Enterprises are also trying out AI technologies.

Social protection expenditure on the rise

In 2017, the social protection field was mostly characterised by growth trends: the average old-age pension exceeded 400 euros, labour market measures are being used more and there is a greater variety of them, the expenditure on family allowances increased and new allowances for large families were added. The number of old-age pensioners and subsistence benefit recipients has declined.
In the third quarter, wage growth was one of the biggest in recent years

According to Statistics Estonia, in the third quarter of 2021, the average monthly gross wages and salaries were 1,553 euros, which is 7.8% more than the year before. Gross wages and salaries were highest in Harju and Tartu counties, and in information and communication, financial and insurance activities and the energy sector.

According to Statistics Estonia, in the third quarter of 2022, the labour force participation rate was 73.7%, the employment rate was 69.5%, and the unemployment rate was 5.6%.
