The industrial producer price index did not change in December compared to the previous month

According to Statistics Estonia, in December 2016, the producer price index of industrial output changed by 0.0% compared to November 2016 and by 2.5% compared to December 2015.

In December, compared to the previous month, the producer price index was influenced more than average by an increase in prices in the manufacture of fuel oils and food products, but also by a decrease in prices of electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning supply.

Compared to December 2015, the producer price index was influenced more than average by an increase in prices in the manufacture of fuel oils, electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning supply and in the manufacture of food products and electronic equipment, but also by a decrease in prices in mining and quarrying.

In December 2016, the export price index changed by 1.4% compared to November 2016 and by 5.6% compared to December 2015.

In December, compared to the previous month, the prices of oil products, forestry and leather products increased more than average, while the prices of electricity, textile products and chemical products decreased more than average.

In December 2016, the import price index changed by 1.3% compared to November 2016 and by 3.0% compared to December 2015.

In December, compared to the previous month, the prices of oil products, agricultural products and pharmaceutical products increased more than average, while the prices of leather products, electricity and furniture decreased more than average.

The statistics are based on the questionnaires “Producer price”, ”Export price” and “Import price”, the deadline of which was 6 January 2017. Statistics Estonia published the monthly summary in 9 working days. For the statistical activities “Producer price index of industrial output”, “Export price index” and “Import price index”, the main representative of public interest is the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Communications, commissioned by whom Statistics Estonia collects and analyses the data necessary for conducting the statistical activities.
