In March, the consumer price index was influenced the most by motor fuel

According to Statistics Estonia, the change of the consumer price index in March 2015 was 0.6% compared to February 2015 and -0.6% compared to March of the previous year.

Compared to March 2014, goods were 1.0% cheaper and services 0.3% more expensive.

Regulated prices of goods and services have fallen by 0.4% and non-regulated prices by 0.6% compared to March of the previous year.

Compared to March 2014, the consumer price index was influenced the most by 11.3% cheaper motor fuel and 2.4% cheaper food. Milk and milk products were 3.5% and vegetables 7.3% cheaper than in the same month of the previous year. Among the commodities the prices of which increased, alcoholic beverages had a bigger impact on the index, as their prices increased by 6.2% over the year. Compared to March of the previous year, of food products, the prices of coffee (22.5%) and dried fruit and nuts (22%) have increased the most, and the prices of sugar (39%) and potatoes (20%) have decreased the most.

In March compared to February, the consumer price index was influenced the most by motor fuel as its prices increased by 4.6%. 35% more expensive plane tickets, the end of the sales of clothing and footwear, and 2.4% cheaper electricity that arrived at homes also had a bigger impact on the index. Compared to February, of food products, the prices of buckwheat and Chinese cabbage increased the most (19% and 14%, respectively) and the prices of kiwis decreased the most (12%).
