In October, the increase in industrial production continued
According to Statistics Estonia, in October 2014, the production of industrial enterprises rose 3% compared to October of the previous year. The production increased in manufacturing, but decreased in mining and energy.
Since January, manufacturing production has shown a growth compared to the same month of the previous year. The year-over-year increase in manufacturing production was 6% in August and 7% in September, whereas in October production rose 4% compared to October of the previous year. Production exceeded the volume of October 2013 in about half of the branches of industry. The growth in production was influenced the most by an increase in the manufacture of electronic products where production grew by more than third. 12% more wood products and 7% more metal products were produced. The volume of production fell in the manufacture of electrical equipment, chemicals and building materials.
In October, 70% of the whole production of manufacturing was sold on the external market. Compared to October 2013, export sales of manufacturing production rose 7% and domestic sales 2% according to unadjusted data.
In October 2014, the seasonally adjusted total industrial production as well as the production of manufacturing remained on the level of the previous month.
Compared to October 2013, the production of electricity decreased 7% and the production of heat increased 7%.
