The consumer price index in 2012 was mainly influenced by electricity, heat energy and fuel

According to Statistics Estonia, the consumer price index increased 3.9% in 2012 compared to the average of 2011.

The annual change of the consumer price index was mainly influenced by the 11.4% price increase of electricity, heat energy and fuel, which gave over a half of the total increase. Also by the 9% price increase of motor fuel, and the 3.8% price increase of food and non-alcoholic beverages, which both added another fifth to the total increase.

In 2012 compared to the previous year, postal services were 39% and eggs 36% more expensive, but potatoes were 42% cheaper.
