In October the number of foreign tourists in accommodation establishments increased

In October 174,000 tourists stayed in accommodation establishments. Foreign tourists accounted for 65% of them. Compared to October of the previous year, the number of tourists from Finland and Russia using the services of accommodation establishments increased (15% and 22%, respectively). Only from these two major partner countries the number of tourists using accommodation services increased. The number of tourists from Latvia decreased by about a quarter, from Germany by a fifth and from Sweden by 7%. Sweden, wherefrom almost 7,000 tourists arrived, was the second major partner country for accommodation establishments after Finland.

As in the previous months of the year, in October compared to the same month of the previous year, the number of domestic tourists using the services of accommodation establishments decreased. 61,000 of Estonian residents stayed in accommodation establishments, which was 12% less than in October of the previous year. The number of domestic tourists on holiday trips decreased by 11% and that of tourists on business trips by 18%.

In October 732 accommodation establishments with 17,100 rooms and 37,000 beds were available for tourists. The room occupancy rate was 37% and it was two percentage points less than in October 2008.

The average cost of a guest night in an accommodation establishment was 424 kroons, which was 80 kroons cheaper compared to October of the previous year.
