Producer price indices in August

According to Statistics Estonia, in August 2009 the producer price index increased 0.2% compared to July and decreased 1.6% compared to August 2008.

In August compared to the previous month the producer price index was more than average influenced by the increase in prices in the manufacture of wood products and by the decrease in prices in the manufacture of beverages. Compared to August 2008 the prices increased most in energy supply and mining.

In August 2009 compared to July 2009 the export price index increased 0.2% and decreased 5.2% compared to August 2008.

In August compared to the previous month, the export price index was more than average influenced by the increase in prices in the extraction of peat and in the manufacture of metals and by the decrease in prices in the manufacture of textiles and textile products and in the manufacture of furniture.

In August 2009 compared to July 2009 the import price index increased 0.6% and decreased 6.7% compared to August 2008.

In August compared to the previous month, the import price index was more than average influenced by the increase in prices of wood products and footwear and leather products and by the decrease in prices of agricultural products
