Number of job vacancies higher in the third quarter than a year earlier

According to Statistics Estonia, in the third quarter of 2022, there were 13,190 job vacancies in the enterprises, institutions and organisations of Estonia. This is 15% more than in the same quarter of 2021. Over 5,000 people left their jobs at the initiative of the employer.

According to Statistics Estonia, in the last quarter of 2020, there were 8,707 job vacancies in the enterprises, institutions and organisations of Estonia. The number decreased by 16% year on year. More than 7,000 persons left their jobs on the employer’s initiative.

It is calculated as gross hourly wages and salaries of male employees, less gross hourly wages and salaries of female employees, divided by gross hourly wages and salaries of male employees. All economically active enterprises, institutions and organisations with at least one employee are taken into account.

Increased imports led to a higher trade deficit in April

According to Statistics Estonia, in April 2022, Estonia’s exports of goods increased by 4% and imports by 31% compared to April 2021. Faster growth in imports contributed significantly to the increase of trade deficit, which reached 542 million euros in April.
