The monthly change of the consumer price index was influenced the most by increased food prices

According to Statistics Estonia, the change of the consumer price index in November 2016 was 0.1% compared to October 2016 and 1.0% compared to November of the previous year.

Compared to November 2015, goods were 1.2% and services 0.8% more expensive. Regulated prices of goods and services have risen by 3.1% and non-regulated prices by 0.5% compared to November of the previous year.

Compared to November 2015, the consumer price index was influenced the most by a 7.3% increase in the prices of alcoholic beverages and tobacco. Alcoholic beverages became 6.6% and tobacco 9.1% more expensive. Also, more expensive motor fuel had a bigger impact on the index. Compared to the previous year, diesel fuel was 3.9% and petrol 3.8% more expensive. Compared to November of the previous year, of food products, the prices of processed fruit (27%), fresh fish (22%) and sugar (15%) have increased the most.

Compared to October, in November the consumer price index was influenced the most by 1.2% increased food prices, of which close to a third was contributed by 1.9% more expensive milk, dairy products and eggs, and more than a fifth by 2.9% more expensive vegetables. Transport also had a bigger impact on the index as plane tickets bought for November were 17% cheaper than a month before.
