In July, the annual change of the consumer price index was influenced the most by transport

According to Statistics Estonia, the change of the consumer price index in July 2016 was 0.0% compared to June 2016 and -0.1% compared to July of the previous year.

Compared to July 2015, goods were 0.2% more expensive and services 0.5% cheaper. Regulated prices of goods and services have fallen by 1.3% and non-regulated prices risen by 0.4% compared to July of the previous year.

Compared to July 2015, the consumer price index was influenced the most by transport, as it became 5.1% cheaper, with petrol being 10.6% and diesel fuel 4.6% cheaper. 4.6% cheaper electricity, heat energy and fuels also had a bigger impact on the index, with 9.5% cheaper heat energy and 15.2% cheaper pipeline gas providing most of the change. Out of the products which have become more expensive, alcoholic beverages had the biggest impact on the index, as their prices have increased 7.6% compared to July of the previous year.

In July compared to June, the consumer price index was influenced the most by 2.1% more expensive food which was caused by the seasonal price increase of 13.4% for vegetables and 7.8% for fruit. Transport also had a bigger impact on the index, as plane tickets bought for July were 15.5% cheaper and motor fuel became 1.7% cheaper compared to the previous month. Moreover, widespread sales of clothing and footwear were taking place.
