According to Statistics Estonia, in October 2012, the production of industrial enterprises did not change compared to October of the previous year. The production of energy and mining increased, while the production of manufacturing decreased slightly.

The significant growth in manufacturing that took place in September was replaced with a small decline in October. In October the decrease in manufacturing was 1% compared to the same month of the previous year. Although production rose in the largest branches of manufacturing – electronics, wood products, food products and electrical equipment, it did not compensate for the fall in most of the smaller branches. In October, the production did not exceed the volume of the same month of the previous year in two thirds of the branches of industry, including the manufacture of metal and chemical products, furniture and building materials.

71% of the whole production of manufacturing was sold on the external market in October. Since September the export growth compared to the same month of the previous year has increased substantially – export sales of the manufacturing production grew 13% in September and 14% in October. Domestic sales fell 10% and 6%, respectively.

In October 2012 compared to September, the seasonally adjusted total industrial production as well as the production in manufacturing decreased by 5%.

Compared to October 2011, the production of electricity increased by 11% and the production of heat by 13%.
