Producer price indices increased in January

According to Statistics Estonia, in January 2012, the change in producer price index of industrial output was 0.7% compared to December 2011 and 3.1% compared to January of the previous year.

In January compared to the previous month, the producer price index was more than average influenced by the increase in prices in the production of refined petroleum products, heat energy and food products.

Compared to January 2011, the index was more than average influenced by the increase in prices in the manufacture of food products. The biggest decrease in prices was in the production of paper and paper products.

In January 2012 the export price index changed by -0.2% compared to December 2011 and by 7.3% compared to January 2011.

In January compared to the previous month, the prices of metals and some machinery and equipment decreased more than average, and the prices of food products, plastic and peat products increased more than average.

In January 2012 the import price index changed by 1.2% compared to December 2011 and by 5.2% compared to January 2011.

In January compared to the previous month, the prices of mineral fuels and textile products increased more than average and the prices of leather and leather products decreased more than average.
