Exports of goods were record high in November
According to Statistics Estonia, in November 2010 exports of goods from Estonia amounted to 860 million euros (13.5 billion kroons) at current prices and imports to Estonia reached 900 million euros (14.1 billion kroons). The turnover of exports per month has not been so big before, but imports were bigger last in October 2008.
In November, exports of goods grew by 48% and imports by 38% compared to November 2009. Trade deficit amounted to 40 million euros (0.6 billion kroons). The deficit decreased nearly twofold compared to November 2009.
The value of goods exported from Estonia to the European Union (EU) countries amounted to 594 million euros (9.3 billion kroons) accounting for 69% of Estonia’s total exports. Exports to the EU countries increased by 49% compared to November 2009. Exports to non-EU countries or the so-called third countries increased by 45%.
Imports of goods from the EU countries to Estonia totalled 718 million euros (11.2 billion kroons) with the share of 80% of Estonia’s total imports. Imports from the EU countries increased by 30% compared to November 2009. Imports from the third countries increased by 80%.
The trade deficit with the EU countries amounted to 124 million euros (1.9 billion kroons). A surplus of 84 million euros (1.3 billion kroons) was announced in the trade with the third countries.
In November 2010 compared to October of the same year, exports increased by 2% and imports by 6%.
Estonian foreign trade, January 2009 – November 2010
Statistics Estonia releases the first estimates about foreign trade on the 40th day after the end of the reference period. The estimates are revised on the 54th day. On the 24th of January, Statistics Estonia will release a more detailed overview about foreign trade in November. The trade data in kroons have been published in the Statistical Database. Letter “Y” has been added to the code and the word “kroon” to the title of the kroon data table.
