Producer price indices in March

According to Statistics Estonia, in March 2009 the producer price index decreased 0.8% compared to February and increased 1.1% compared to March 2008.

In March compared to the previous month the producer price index was more than average influenced by the decrease in prices in energy supply and by the increase in prices in the manufacture of chemicals and chemical products. Compared to March 2008 the prices increased most in energy supply and in mining.

In March 2009 the export price index decreased 0.7% compared to February 2009 and 2.4% compared to March 2008.

In March compared to the previous month, the export price index was more than average influenced by the decrease in prices in forestry, in the manufacture of food products, in the manufacture of machinery and equipment and in the manufacture of metals.

In March 2009 the import price index decreased 1.6% compared to February 2009 and 6.3% compared to March 2008.

In March compared to the previous month, the import price index was more than average influenced by the decrease in prices of mineral fuels, forestry products, metals and electrical machinery and equipment and by the increase in prices of agricultural products.
