In fish farming, output decreased but the prices increased

According to Statistics Estonia, in 2022, fish farming enterprises sold 801 tonnes of commercial fish and crayfish, for a total of 4.9 million euros. The sale of fish roe amounted to 2.7 tonnes. The sold quantity of fish farming production decreased for the third year in a row. The quantity of fish roe sold in 2022 was 8 times smaller than the year before.

In November, retail trade turnover up by 14%

Exports of services reached a record high in the fourth quarter

According to Statistics Estonia and Eesti Pank, in the fourth quarter of 2023, Estonia’s exports of services grew by 5% and imports by 7% compared with the same quarter of 2022. Sales of services to non-residents totalled 3.1 billion euros and purchases of services from non-residents amounted to 2.3 billion euros at current prices. Total exports of services increased by 9% and imports by 8% last year.

More than three-quarters of households have mobile internet connection

According to Statistics Estonia, 88% of Estonian households had internet connection at home in 2017. The share of households using mobile internet connection has reached 82%, increasing by four percentage points in a year.

Last year, the volume of freight transport through ports decreased by nearly a third, rail transport by 43%

According to Statistics Estonia, the volume of freight transport through ports fell by 31% in 2023. A total of 23 million tonnes of goods were transported through Estonian ports, 10 million tonnes less than a year earlier. Estonian railways carried a total of 10.1 million tonnes of freight last year, 43% less than in 2022.

Statistical thresholds In 2023, the statistical threshold for the dispatches of goods is 270,000 euros (last year, it was 200,000 euros). It means that, in 2023, Intrastat data have to be submitted by those enterprises whose turnover of goods dispatched to European Union countries exceeded 270,000 euros in 2022. If enterprises exceed the statistical threshold in 2023, they will also have to submit Intrastat data. The statistical threshold for the arrivals of goods is 400,000 euros (the same as last year). Construction volume fell in the third quarter

According to Statistics Estonia, in the third quarter of 2022, the total production value of Estonian construction enterprises in Estonia and abroad decreased by 3% year on year at constant prices. Considering only the domestic market, the construction volume fell by 4%.
