Exports and imports of services were at the same level in the first quarter

According to Statistics Estonia and Eesti Pank, in the first quarter of 2021, the exports of services grew by 2% and imports of services by 51% year on year. Estonian economic entities exported and imported services for 1.6 billion euros. The imports of services increased mainly on account of growth in telecommunications, computer and information services.

Working international students and graduates contributed over ten million euros in taxes

Statistics Estonia prepared an analysis for Archimedes Foundation on the participation of international students in the Estonian labour market and its impact on the economy. It appeared that in the previous academic year, foreign students paid eight million euros in income and social tax in Estonia. International students who graduated the year prior contributed additionally over two million euros. The share of international students who work besides studying has increased significantly in the last three years. A half of them continue working in Estonia even after receiving a diploma.
The number of job vacancies in Estonia remains over 10,000

According to Statistics Estonia, in the 1st quarter of 2019, there were approximately 11,450 job vacancies in the enterprises, institutions and organisations of Estonia. This trend has continued since the 1st quarter of 2017.

According to Statistics Estonia, based on the gross domestic product, the differences in the economic structure of the counties are increasing, but the majority of the value added was created in Harju county in 2014 as well.

According to Statistics Estonia, in the third quarter of 2020, the gross domestic product (GDP) decreased by 1.9% year on year. The GDP at current prices was 7 billion euros. Transportation and storage and manufacturing activities were the main contributors to the economic decline.

According to the second estimates of Statistics Estonia, the gross domestic product (GDP) of Estonia increased by 8.5% in the 1st quarter of 2011 compared to the same quarter in the previous year. The GDP growth has gradually accelerated since the 2nd quarter of the previous year.
