According to Statistics Estonia, in the first quarter of 2024, the dwelling price index increased by 2% compared with the fourth quarter of 2023 and by 7.8% compared with the first quarter of 2023.

Lauri Veski, team lead of consumer price statistics at Statistics Estonia, said that, compared with October 2023, the consumer price index was affected the most by price changes related to food and non-alcoholic beverages, recreation, and phone services. “Among food products, the higher prices of non-alcoholic beverages (+20.4%), fruits (+12.4%) and vegetables (+5.5%) drove up the index the most compared with October last year. According to Statistics Estonia, in the first quarter of 2024, there were 9,598 job vacancies in the enterprises, institutions and organisations of Estonia. This is 16.3% less than in the same quarter last year. A little under 6,500 persons left their job at the initiative of the employer.

Sigrid Saagpakk, analyst at Statistics Estonia, said that a smart TV is the most common Internet of Things device in Estonia, used by 57% of internet users. “The second most popular group of devices includes smart watches, wireless headsets and GPS devices, which are used by over a half (53%) of the respondents.
