According to Statistics Estonia, in Viimsi rural municipality and Saue city, only 6% of residents lived in relative poverty in 2011, while the share of the relatively poor was over 40% in Kallaste city and in Alatskivi and Peipsiääre rural municipalities. Among local governments, at-risk-of-poverty rate was the highest in remote areas near the border and the lowest in the local governments of Harju county.
Exports of goods of Estonian origin increased by 4% in September

Jane Leppmets, analyst at Statistics Estonia, said that exports of goods increased in September and in the third quarter overall. “Although re-exports fell by 1% in September, the rise in total exports was driven by the 4% increase in exports of goods of Estonian origin. According to Statistics Estonia, in 2023, the average expenditure of Estonian residents on overnight outbound trips was greater than in the period before the COVID-19 pandemic. The average spending on outbound trips has increased by 43% in the years 2018–2023. The number of tourists accommodated in Estonia has not yet reached the pre-pandemic level, but the share of domestic tourists has increased significantly compared with 2018.

Helga Laurmaa, leading analyst at Statistics Estonia, said that 119,000 foreign and 128,000 domestic tourists were accommodated in Estonia in November 2024. The number of domestic tourists, which was in decline for most months in 2024 year on year, took an upturn in October 2024 and continued this trend in November. According to Statistics Estonia, in April 2013, 192,000 foreign and domestic tourists stayed in accommodation establishments, which was 6% less than in the same month of the previous year. The number of domestic tourists increased and the number of foreign tourists decreased.

Today, 8th of July, the Government of the Republic approved the regulation, which allows Statistics Estonia during a two-year transition period to ask economic units the data already submitted to the Business Register in their annual reports.
