Eveli Šokman, team lead of producer price statistics at Statistics Estonia, said that, compared with April 2024, the producer price index was most affected by price increases in the manufacture of wood and wood products, in electricity and heat energy production, and in the manufacture of food products. “Falling prices in the manufacture of fuel oils and paper and paper products had the opposite effect on the index. Producer prices increased by 1.0% in manufacturing as a whole and by 3.0% in the manufacture of food products,” Šokman added. Compared with March, the producer price index in April

Helle Bunder, leading analyst at Statistics Estonia, said that, in February, there was an increase in total industrial production as well as in the volume of manufacturing production. “The rise in manufacturing production was mainly due to the 7.3% increase in the manufacture of food products, where output was boosted significantly by the manufacture of milk and manufacture of other food products, including sugar, sugar confectionery, prepared meals, tea and coffee, and spices,” explained Bunder.
