According to Statistics Estonia, the unemployment rate was 5.5% in 2008 and 7.6% in the 4th quarter. By counties, the annual average unemployment was the biggest in Ida-Viru county and the smallest in Pärnu county.

According to Statistics Estonia, in the first quarter of 2023, the unemployment rate was 5.3%, the employment rate was 69.4%, and the labour force participation rate was 73.3%.

According to Statistics Estonia, in 2022, the total production of industrial enterprises fell by 1.9% at constant prices compared with the year before. Of the three main industrial sectors, production increased by 7.3% in mining and by 5.4% in energy production but decreased by 2.7% in manufacturing.

According to Statistics Estonia, in the 3rd quarter of 2019, there were 11,892 job vacancies in the enterprises, institutions and organisations of Estonia. The number of job vacancies has remained above 10,000 since the 1st quarter of 2017.

Jane Leppmets, analyst at Statistics Estonia, noted that, compared with 2024, exports of services to European Union countries increased by 4% in the first quarter of this year, while imports from these countries grew by 8%. Exports of services to non-EU countries rose by 6% and imports from these countries increased by 18%. “The latter was mainly due to higher imports of services from Cyprus, the United Kingdom, and the United States. In the first quarter, the largest import items were other business services from Cyprus, transport services from the United Kingdom, and telecommunications

In 2021, 894 tonnes of pesticides by active substance were placed on the market in Estonia. This is the largest annual sales of pesticides in Estonia over the years. The majority of these pesticides were herbicides.

The production of short-term death statistics was prompted by the 2020 coronavirus crisis. The chart shows the weekly death statistics for 2010–2025. The data for 2010–2024 are final, and the data for 2025 is preliminary data from the population register and will be revised. The chart also shows the ten-year average number of deaths per week. The number of deaths depends on the time of year: more than the average number of deaths are recorded in December, January, February, and March, while less are recorded in June, July, August, and September. According to Statistics Estonia, in the academic year 2020/2021, international students and graduates in Estonia paid more than ever before in labour taxes: a total of 16 million euros. At the same time, the number of international students was smaller, while the number of international graduates continued to rise. International students and graduates were most likely to work in information and communication as well as in education. Compared to local students, they worked more often in start-up enterprises.
