According to Statistics Estonia, in 2025, Tallinn Airport served nearly 3.5 million passengers, which is at the same level as the year before. There was a decrease in passenger traffic on domestic routes between Tallinn and the main islands. The air transport of freight and mail increased.

HICP flash estimate: prices down by 0.2% in March

According to the preliminary estimate of Statistics Estonia, in March, the harmonised index of consumer prices (HICP), which includes the expenditures of tourists, decreased by 0.2% compared with February. Compared with March last year, the HICP rose by 3.3%. This is a flash estimate which will be refined once more detailed data on March prices are received.

In January, the consumer price index was up by 3.7% year on year

According to Statistics Estonia, in January 2026, the consumer price index increased by 1% compared with December 2025 and by 3.7% compared with January 2025. Compared with December, food prices were up by 2.3% in January.

Statistics Estonia uses a new methodology to calculate the consumer price index

Starting from January 2026, Statistics Estonia uses a new methodology to calculate the consumer price index (CPI). The CPI classification has also been updated, with price changes now tracked across 13 main groups.

Economic growth decelerated in the 1st quarter

According to the flash estimates of Statistics Estonia, the gross domestic product (GDP) of Estonia increased by 1% in the 1st quarter of 2013 compared to the same quarter of the previous year.

According to Statistics Estonia, in the 1st quarter of 2013, over half a million foreign and domestic tourists stayed in accommodation establishments, which was 5% more than in the same period of the previous year. The number of both foreign and domestic tourists increased.

In April the annual change of the consumer price index was mainly influenced by housing expenditures

According to Statistics Estonia, the change of the consumer price index was -0.1% in April 2013 compared to March and 3.1% compared to April of the previous year.

The decrease in population number was influenced by emigration

According to Statistics Estonia, 1,286,000 persons lived in Estonia on 1 January 2013. Due to migration the population declined by more than 6,600 persons, due to the natural increase by 1,400 persons

The growth in retail sales accelerated in March

According to Statistics Estonia, in March 2013 compared to March of the previous year, the retail sales of goods of retail trade enterprises increased 7% at constant prices.

In March the industrial production grew compared to the previous year

According to Statistics Estonia, in March 2013, the production of industrial enterprises increased by 7% compared to March of the previous year. The growth in the production was most of all influenced by the manufacturing of electronic products and electricity.
