HICP flash estimate: prices up by 0.9% in April

According to the preliminary estimate of Statistics Estonia, in April, the harmonised index of consumer prices (HICP), which includes the expenditures of tourists, increased by 0.9% compared with March. Compared with April last year, the HICP rose by 3.3%. This is a flash estimate which will be refined once more detailed data on April prices are received.

1,360,745 people: Estonia’s population declined for the second year in a row

According to Statistics Estonia, on 1 January 2026, the population of Estonia stood at 1,360,745. This is 9,250 persons fewer than at the same time the year before. Estonia’s population decreased for the second year in a row. There were 9,240 births and 15,688 deaths last year. 15,212 persons immigrated to Estonia and 18,014 persons emigrated.

In July foreign trade decreased

According to Statistics Estonia, in July 2015, exports of goods decreased by 6% and imports by 4% compared to July of the previous year. The decrease in exports and imports was mostly influenced by a fall in the trade of electrical equipment and mineral products.

According to the second estimates of Statistics Estonia, the gross domestic product (GDP) of Estonia increased 2.0% in the 2nd quarter of 2015 compared to the 2nd quarter of the previous year.

In the 2nd quarter, the number of job vacancies increased

According to Statistics Estonia, there were 8,500 job vacancies in the enterprises, institutions and organisations of Estonia in the 2nd quarter of 2015. The number of job vacancies increased by 16.5% compared to the previous quarter and by 11.0% compared to the 2nd quarter of 2014.

Construction volumes decreased in the 2nd quarter

According to Statistics Estonia, in the 2nd quarter of 2015 compared to the same quarter of the previous year, the total production of Estonian construction enterprises in Estonia and foreign countries decreased 6%. The construction volumes have decreased for two years in a row.
