According to Statistics Estonia, in February 2021, the turnover of retail trade enterprises was 594 million euros. Compared to February 2020, turnover increased by 4% at constant prices.
In January 2021, the consumer price index, which expresses the change in the prices of consumer goods and services, rose by 0.7% compared to December 2020 and by 0.2% compared to January 2020. Goods were 0.8% cheaper than in January 2020 and services were 2% more expensive.
According to Statistics Estonia, in the fourth quarter of 2020, the gross domestic product (GDP) decreased by 1.2% year on year, and the GDP at current prices was 7.3 billion euros. In 2020 as a whole, the Estonian economy shrank by 2.9%.

Compared to April 2020, turnover increased by 23% at constant prices – the increase was mainly the result of both trade enterprises and consumers adjusting to the restrictions related to the coronavirus crisis.
Researchers and officials have a special interest to find out through the census how many people living in Estonia have two nationalities and speak two mother tongues. Although information on nationality and mother tongue is also available in the population register, it is the first time that it is possible to choose two options in the census questionnaire.
