The volume of retail trade turnover in November was unchanged year on year

According to Statistics Estonia, in November 2025, the turnover of retail trade enterprises was 907 million euros. Compared with November 2024, the volume of retail trade turnover remained at the same level.

The consumer price index rose by 4.8% last year

According to Statistics Estonia, in 2025, the consumer price index increased by 4.8% compared with the average of 2024. The price changes of food and non-alcoholic beverages had the biggest impact on the consumer price index in 2025.

Industrial production grew by 3.4% in November

According to Statistics Estonia, in November 2025, the total production of industrial enterprises increased by 3.4% at constant prices compared with the same month of 2024. Among the three main sectors, output increased by 10% in mining and by 4.5% in manufacturing but decreased by 8.7% in energy production.

Working international students and graduates contributed nearly 23 million euros in taxes in the academic year 2023/2024

According to Statistics Estonia, working international students and international graduates who have stayed to work here after graduation contributed nearly 23 million euros in taxes in Estonia in the academic year 2023/2024. Although the number of international students in Estonia has decreased, their contribution to the Estonian economy has not fallen as much.

In 2018, construction volume increased

According to the preliminary data of Statistics Estonia, in 2018, the total production of Estonian construction enterprises in Estonia and in foreign countries amounted to three billion euros, which was 18% more than in 2017. Taking into account only Estonian construction market, construction volume increased 21%.

Labour market indicators have improved year-on-year

According to Statistics Estonia, in 2018, the labour force participation rate was 71.9%, the employment rate was 68.1% and the unemployment rate was 5.4%. The number of long‑term unemployed was the lowest of the last 20 years.

Last year, trade increased

According to Statistics Estonia, in 2018, the exports of goods increased by 12% and imports by 10% compared to 2017. The exports and imports of mineral products had the greatest impact on trade growth in 2018.

In 2018, the number of tourists in accommodation establishments increased

According to Statistics Estonia, 3.6 million domestic and foreign tourists stayed in the accommodation establishments of Estonia in 2018, i.e. 1% more than in 2017. The number of domestic tourists increased and the number of foreign tourists decreased.

Consumer price index rose in January

According to Statistics Estonia, in January 2019 compared to December 2018, the change of the consumer price index was –0.2% and compared to January of the previous year, 2.7%.

According to Statistics Estonia, in December 2018, compared to December 2017, the turnover of retail trade enterprises remained at the same level at constant prices.

Milk production increased year-on-year

According to the preliminary data of Statistics Estonia, the production of milk amounted to 807,500 tonnes in 2018, which is 2% more than the year before. The number of dairy cows decreased by the end of the year, but the average milk yield per cow increased.

Cereal yield decreased by a third

According to Statistics Estonia, the average yield of cereals was 2,625 kilograms per hectare in 2018. This is a third less than in 2017.

Statistics Estonia to decide the population census method at the end of the year

Statistics Estonia will decide at the end of this year whether the 2021 Population and Housing Census will be register-based. The decision will be made based on the results and quality of the ongoing second trial census.

Construction price index growth accelerated year on year as well as quarter on quarter

According to Statistics Estonia, in 2018, the construction price index increased by 1.7% compared to the average of 2017. In the 4th quarter of 2018, compared to the 3rd quarter, the change of the construction price index was 0.8%, and compared to the 4th quarter of 2017, it was 1.7%.

Industrial producer price index continued to decrease in December

According to Statistics Estonia, in December 2018, the change of the producer price index of industrial output was -0.6% compared to November and 1.6% compared to December 2017.
