According to Statistics Estonia, in the fourth quarter of 2023, the average monthly gross wages and salaries were 1,904 euros, which is 9.7% higher than in the same quarter the year before. In 2023 as a whole, the average monthly gross wages and salaries were 1,832 euros, up by 11.3% compared with 2022. The median monthly gross wages were 1,578 euros in the fourth quarter of 2023 and 1,501 euros in 2023 overall.

“Looking at the wage change trend, wage growth is still slower now than in 2023,” said Sigrid Saagpakk, analyst at Statistics Estonia. According to Statistics Estonia, the average monthly gross wages and salaries in the second quarter of 2024 were €2,007, which is 7.2% higher than in the same quarter the year before. The median wages were €1,641 in the second quarter of this year and €1,524 in the same quarter of 2023.

Robert Müürsepp, team lead of national accounts at Statistics Estonia, said that the improvement in Estonian economy continued in the first quarter of 2025. “Compared with the first quarter of 2024, the GDP increased by 1.2%. According to Statistics Estonia, in the second quarter of 2024, the gross domestic product (GDP) decreased by 1% compared with the same period of 2023. The GDP at current prices amounted to €9.8 billion.

Robert Müürsepp, team lead of national accounts at Statistics Estonia, said that although the economy has shown slight growth for two consecutive quarters, the contribution of most sectors has remained insignificant. “Manufacturing was the biggest positive contributor to GDP in the third quarter, with its value added growing by 7.9%.
