Märt Umbleja, leading analyst at Statistics Estonia, pointed out that the last time the dwelling price index fell compared with the previous quarter was in the third quarter of 2023. “Compared with the second quarter of 2024, the prices of apartments decreased by 1% in areas bordering Tallinn and in Tartu and Pärnu cities, and by 7.7% in the rest of Estonia. Sigrid Saagpakk, analyst at Statistics Estonia, explained that the gender pay gap was over 20% in five economic activities: financial and insurance activities (25.5%), information and communication (24.4%), wholesale and retail trade, repair of motor vehicles and motorcycles (23.5%), human health and social work activities (20.7%), and manufacturing (20.2%). Helga Laurmaa, leading analyst at Statistics Estonia, said that 108,000 foreign and 109,000 domestic tourists were accommodated in Estonia in March 2025. “The number of foreign tourists was 7% lower than in March last year and it was also smaller compared with March 2019 (down by 13%),” explained Laurmaa. Similarly to the earlier months of this year, accommodation establishments served more domestic than foreign tourists in March. Statistics Estonia, commissioned by the Education and Youth Board, analysed for the fifth time the economic contribution of working international students and international graduates. Although the number of international degree students in Estonia was down from the previous years, international students paid 16.6 million euros in income and social tax in the academic year 2022/23, and graduates from the year before contributed 6.9 million euros. For students, this is 2.5 million euros more than in the previous academic year, while for graduates it is 1.5 million euros less.
