According to Statistics Estonia, the average monthly gross wages and salaries in the second quarter of 2024 were €2,007, which is 7.2% higher than in the same quarter the year before. The median wages were €1,641 in the second quarter of this year and €1,524 in the same quarter of 2023.

According to Statistics Estonia, in the second quarter of 2024, the gross domestic product (GDP) decreased by 1% compared with the same period of 2023. The GDP at current prices amounted to €9.8 billion.

Lauri Veski, team lead of consumer price statistics at Statistics Estonia, said that food prices are the main driver of overall inflation, as food products have the biggest weight in the consumer price index. “The prices of food products decreased in September and October but started to increase again in November,” added Veski. Compared with October, food products were 1% more expensive in November. The biggest impact came from the rise in the prices of vegetables (1.9%), cheese (3.3%), fresh or frozen fish (7.7%) and bread and bakery products (2.7%). Decreases in the prices of fresh fruits
