Starting from January 2026, Statistics Estonia uses a new methodology to calculate the consumer price index (CPI). The CPI classification has also been updated, with price changes now tracked across 13 main groups.

According to Statistics Estonia, in July 2011, 397,000 tourists stayed in accommodation establishments and the number of both domestic and foreign tourists increased by 11% compared to July of the previous year.

In July machinery and equipment made up nearly a third of Estonia’s trade

According to Statistics Estonia, in July 2011, exports from Estonia amounted to 933 million euros and imports to Estonia to 1 billion euros at current prices. In July 2011, the share of machinery and equipment comprised 32% of Estonia’s total exports and 31% of imports.

Economy grew 8.4% in the 2nd quarter

According to the second estimates of Statistics Estonia, the gross domestic product (GDP) of Estonia increased by 8.4% in the 2nd quarter of 2011 compared to the same quarter of the previous year.

Consumer price index in August was mainly influenced by food and housing

According to Statistics Estonia, the change of the consumer price index was 0.3% in August 2011 compared to July and 5.5% compared to August of the previous year.

The growth in business sector is slowing down

According to Statistics Estonia, in the 2nd quarter of 2011, the net sales, costs and total profit of the business sector increased compared to the previous quarter as well as to the same quarter of the previous year. At the same time the continually improving comparison basis turns the growth rate slower.

According to Statistics Estonia, in July 2011 the production of industrial enterprises grew 23% compared to the same period of the previous year. The growth of production was mostly influenced by manufacturing of electronic products.

In the 2nd quarter the average monthly gross wages and salaries grew, but the real wages continued to fall

According to Statistics Estonia, in the 2nd quarter of 2011, the average monthly gross wages and salaries were 857 euros and they grew 4.2% compared to the same quarter of the previous year. But the real wages continued the falling trend, which had lasted for over two years and a half already.

In the 2nd quarter construction grew by a tenth during the year

According to Statistics Estonia, in the 2nd quarter of 2011 compared to the same quarter of the previous year, the total production of Estonian construction enterprises in Estonia and foreign countries grew 11%, of which 10% on domestic market.

Producer price indices increased in July

According to Statistics Estonia, in July 2011 the producer price index of industrial output changed by 0.2% compared to June and by 5.2% compared to July of the previous year.
