Statistics Estonia collects data about economic and social indicators to give a detailed overview of economic trends and life in Estonia. This year, Statistics Estonia will carry out over one hundred surveys involving more than 26,000 enterprises in total. Is there no other way to get these data?

Organic farming area and number of organic livestock decreased last year
According to Statistics Estonia, in 2023, the organic farming area in Estonia was 225,300 hectares, representing 22.8% of total utilised agricultural area. 92% of the organic farming area was fully converted and the rest was under conversion. Compared with 2022, the organic farming area decreased by 2.5%, and 78 organic producers ceased activities.

Producer price index decreased in August

According to Statistics Estonia, in July, 524,000 tourists stayed in accommodation establishments, which is 4% more than in July 2018. The number of nights spent by foreign and domestic tourists increased by 7%.

Living longer, but health is worse
According to Statistics Estonia, in 2018, life expectancy at birth was 73.9 years for males and 82.4 years for females. Life expectancy has increased for both sexes, slightly more for males. Men are expected to live disability-free for 52.8 and women for 55.6 years. Just a year ago, disability-free life expectancy for males was two years longer and for females over three years longer.

Electricity production decreased last year
According to Statistics Estonia, in 2018, the production of electricity totalled 12 terawatt hours, which is 6% less than in the previous year. Electricity production from renewable sources increased by 8%.

The methodology for calculating the national accounts data changed
Statistics Estonia revised the national accounts time series from 1995 onwards. As a result of all corrections, the annual gross domestic product (GDP) at current prices changed on average by 0.8% in 1995–2018.
