According to Statistics Estonia, the change of the consumer price index in October 2020 was -0.5% compared to September 2020 and -1.5% compared to October 2019. Year on year, goods were 0.9% and services 2.4% cheaper.

The e-census part of the Estonian Population and Housing Census ended on Saturday, January 22. According to the preliminary data, 568,891 persons, i.e. 43% of the Estonian population, were enumerated.

Census data show that 58% of the population was employed at the end of 2021, which is 6 percentage points more than 10 years ago. The increase is mainly due to persons of retirement age, but also slightly to the unemployed and students.

The first population and housing census in re-independent Estonia was carried out from 31 March to 9 April in 2000. The Census was prepared and conducted according to the recommendations of the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe and the Statistical Office of the European Communities (Eurostat), which guarantee that the census data are internationally comparable. According to the preliminary data of Statistics Estonia, on 1 January 2021, the population of Estonia was 1,329,460 persons, which is 480 persons more than at the same time a year ago. Population decreased by 2,590 persons due to negative natural increase and increased by 3,070 persons as a result of positive net migration.

Data from the 2021 census show that 84% of the current population lived in Estonia ten years ago as well, the proportion of people who have arrived from abroad has risen significantly, and the overall population of immigrants is increasingly international. For the last ten years, internal migration has been predominantly in the direction of Harju county.
