According to Statistics Estonia, 27,989 women and 3,920 men received parental benefit in Estonia in 2019. The average monthly parental benefit paid to men was a third higher than that paid to women.

There will be no competition this year. Statistics Estonia has awarded the young statistician’s prize named after Albert Pullerits since 2011. Albert Pullerits (1892–1967) was the first director of the Estonian State Central Bureau of Statistics and the founder and developer of official statistics in Estonia. According to Statistics Estonia and Eesti Pank, in the fourth quarter of 2022, Estonia’s exports of services grew by 12% and imports by 25% at current prices compared with the fourth quarter in 2021. Services were sold to non-residents for a total of 3 billion and purchased for 2.2 billion euros. The balance of foreign trade in services was therefore in surplus by 765 million euros in the fourth quarter, which is 125 million euros less than in the same period a year earlier. In 2022 as a whole, exports of services grew by 31% and imports by 19%.

According to Statistics Estonia and Eesti Pank, in the second quarter of 2022, Estonia’s exports of services grew by 32% while imports of services fell by 5% year on year. In the second quarter of this year, Estonia’s exports of services totalled 2.5 billion euros and imports of services 1.8 billion euros.

In 2022, the average monthly gross wages and salaries in Estonian companies, institutions, and organisations were 1,685 euros, which is 8.9% more than in 2021. However, the average real wages decreased by 8.8% to 1,358 euros last year.

According to the first estimates of Statistics Estonia, the gross domestic product (GDP) of Estonia increased by 3.1% in the 2nd quarter of 2010 compared to the same quarter in the previous year. The GDP grew last in the 4th quarter of 2007.
