Johanna Linda Pihlak, analyst at Statistics Estonia, said that, compared with February last year, turnover volume grew by 21% in enterprises engaged in the retail sale of automotive fuel and by 6% in stores selling manufactured goods. “In grocery stores, the volume of turnover declined by 5% in February year on year,” added Pihlak. Today, Statistics Estonia presented at a press conference a comparative survey of household and place of residence data. The survey, taking place from May until October, is conducted to test the quality of the methodology of the register-based population and housing census. 30,000 persons will be surveyed.
Profit of the business sector increased in 2018

According to the preliminary data of Statistics Estonia, in 2018, the total profit of the business sector was 2.9 billion euros, which is 4% more than the year before.

Employment rate at record high in 2017

In 2017, the unemployment rate was 5.8%, the employment rate 67.5% and the labour force participation rate 71.6%. The labour force participation rate increased by 1.2 percentage points and the employment rate by 1.9 percentage points. The unemployment rate decreased by 1 percentage point. Employment and labour force participation remained high throughout 2017, reaching the highest levels in 20 years. The number of inactive persons continued to decline.

Statistical thresholds In 2023, the statistical threshold for the dispatches of goods is 270,000 euros (last year, it was 200,000 euros). It means that, in 2023, Intrastat data have to be submitted by those enterprises whose turnover of goods dispatched to European Union countries exceeded 270,000 euros in 2022. If enterprises exceed the statistical threshold in 2023, they will also have to submit Intrastat data. The statistical threshold for the arrivals of goods is 400,000 euros (the same as last year).
