On 7 October, Statistics Estonia will launch a pilot Labour Force Survey, which will be conducted in parallel to the regular Labour Force Survey. The aim of the pilot survey is to test the renewed questionnaire and methodology, which will be implemented in 2021. This is the first time that the respondents can use an online questionnaire and the sample of the survey will include persons aged 75‒89.

“People’s consumption habits change, technology evolves, and more and more data become available. According to Statistics Estonia's survey on information technology, the use of artificial intelligence-based technologies has risen significantly in 2024 compared with the previous year, and cyber security has become increasingly important. 5% of enterprises used at least one AI technology in 2023, whereas in 2024, this figure has risen to 14%. Of large enterprises, 10% said they had experienced a disclosure of confidential data.

According to Statistics Estonia, in 2019, 90% of households had internet connection at home and it is used daily or almost daily by 98% of 16–44-year-olds. Enterprises contribute increasingly to improving their ICT security measures and policies.

By the midnight of Tuesday, 24 January, more than half a million people had been enumerated online – this is 38% of the estimated population of Estonia. The census can be completed online only until 31 January.
