The first population and housing census in re-independent Estonia was carried out from 31 March to 9 April in 2000. The Census was prepared and conducted according to the recommendations of the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe and the Statistical Office of the European Communities (Eurostat), which guarantee that the census data are internationally comparable. According to the data of the 2011 Population and Housing Census (PHC 2011), the share of persons living in a consensual union has increased significantly and the share of people living with a legal spouse has decreased compared to the previous, 2000 Census.

Construction prices grew by 17.8% last year

According to Statistics Estonia, in 2022, the construction price index increased by 17.8% compared with the average of 2021. In the fourth quarter of 2022, the construction price index increased by 1.9% compared with the third quarter of 2022. The rise in the index compared with the fourth quarter of 2021 was again record high at 16.1%.
