In the international phase of the European Statistics competition, students had to make a video using official statistics to introduce their country. In the senior age group, the winner was team Radiaator from Hugo Treffner Gymnasium. The team members were Toomas Roosma, Kertu Liisa Lepik and Paul Erik Olli, supervised by Kerli Orav-Puurand.

Lauri Veski, team lead of consumer price statistics at Statistics Estonia, said that the biggest impact on the consumer price index in 2024 came from price increases related to food and non-alcoholic beverages, which accounted for 23.7% of the total index rise. According to Statistics Estonia, in 2018, compared to 2017, the number of passengers on the main scheduled domestic ship lines increased by 3%, but the number of international traffic passengers served by Estonian ports decreased by 1%. The freight volume of ports in tonnes increased by around 3%.

According to the preliminary data of Statistics Estonia, in 2023, the total production value of Estonian construction enterprises in Estonia and abroad decreased by 6% at constant prices compared with 2022. Considering only the domestic market, the fall in construction volume was 7%.

Although the population has grown for the last seven years, the latest projection predicts a decrease in Estonia’s population by 2085.

According to Statistics Estonia, in the third quarter of 2023, there were 12,040 job vacancies in the enterprises, institutions and organisations of Estonia. This is 8.7% less than in the same quarter last year. A little under 6,000 persons left their job at the initiative of the employer.

According to Statistics Estonia, in June, the consumer price index increased by 0.4% compared with May and by 2.5% compared with June 2023. Goods were 1.7% and services 3.8% more expensive than in June last year.
