Epp Remmelg, leading analyst at Statistics Estonia, said that life expectancy has shown a steady uptrend in Estonia, with the exception of the pandemic years. “Last year, compared with 2024, life expectancy increased by 0.5 years for men and by 0.1 years for women,” said Remmelg. Helga Laurmaa, leading analyst at Statistics Estonia, said that 95,000 foreign and 110,000 domestic tourists were accommodated in Estonia in January 2025. Year on year, the number of domestic tourists fell, as it did in several months in 2024. “Last year, the average number of museum visits per person in Estonia was 1.9. The highest museum attendance was seen in Saare and Lääne counties, where there were respectively 4.1 and 3.9 museum visits per person. In Tallinn, the city with the most museums, the average number of visits per person stood at 2.9. Since the first quarter of 2023, Statistics Estonia uses the data from the employment register of the Tax and Customs Board and the income and social tax declarations to publish the average wages and salaries. Jane Leppmets, a foreign trade analyst at Statistics Estonia, noted that growth in foreign trade in services was most affected by travel services and other business services. “In the third quarter, exports of services to EU countries increased by 8% and imports from EU countries by 4%. Extra-EU exports of services were also up by 8%, however, extra-EU imports were down by 4%. Passenger transport by road and rail increased over the year

According to Statistics Estonia, Estonian transport enterprises served nearly 222 million passengers in 2019, which is 6% more than the previous year. The carriage of passengers increased in road, rail and water transport, but decreased in air transport.
