Today, on 12 January Statistics Estonia organises the Partner Day “How to Measure Regional Development” addressed to local governments and other persons interested in regional development.

Jane Leppmets, foreign trade analyst at Statistics Estonia, said that there was a marked decline in trade in goods in the first quarter of 2024, as exports were down by 16% and imports by 11%. “In the third quarter, imports were unchanged and there was a slight uptrend in exports. The positive trend was even more noticeable in the fourth quarter, with exports increasing by 6% and imports by 7%,” explained Leppmets. According to Statistics Estonia, in 2011 the exports of goods from Estonia at current prices totalled 12 billion euros and imports 12.6 billion euros. The annual increase was record big – exports increased by 38% and imports by 37% compared to the previous year.

According to Statistics Estonia, in August 2019, compared to August 2018, the exports of goods decreased by 3% and imports by 7%. The trade decrease was mainly due to declined exports and imports of mineral products (shale oil, motor spirit, fuel additives and electricity).

Compared to 2007, the average monthly gross wages and salaries increased by 13.9% and the average hourly gross wages and salaries by 15.3%.
